North Carolinian wins $1 million in Mega Millions drawing

One lucky lottery player won Mega Millions jackpot worth $1 million in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing in North Carolina Education Lottery.

The winning ticket was sold at the Handy Mart on U.S. 70 West in Goldsboro, NC. The ticket distributor will get a bonus of $1000 for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $2 ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls and won the $1 million prize.

The winner has 180 days to claim the prize after which the winning amount will be used for lottery advertisement and charity purposes.

Each game costs $2. Of the 47 Mega Millions jurisdictions, all but California offer an option, called Megaplier (plays with the Megaplier are $3 each) where non-jackpot prizes are multiplied by 2, 3, 4, or 5.
