Florida ‘Monopoly’ man wins $1 million from scratch-off ticket

A lucky man from St. Petersburg won a whopping sum of $1 million playing Florida Lottery's $5 Monopoly Doubler Scratch-Off game.

The winning Scratch-Off ticket was sold at a DQ Food Mart on 1730 4th Street South in St. Petersburg. The store will receive a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket. 

The winner recently claimed his winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home $798,985 after taxes.

The Florida Lottery is the government-operated lottery of the U.S. state of Florida.

Florida Lottery instant games range in price from $1 to $30, with higher priced tickets typically putting out a higher percentage of sales back into prizes. Payouts range from 58% to almost 77% of sales and average 70%.
