Mass. State Lottery winner: Man wins $1M playing crossword ticket with wife

In a stroke of luck, a Taunton man who enjoys scratching crossword lottery tickets struck gold in late December, winning a remarkable $1 million.

William J. Stuart Jr. revealed the $1 million prize on a "?$2,000,000 50X Cashword" ticket, which came with a $10 cost per ticket.

Stuart, who shares the enjoyment of playing lottery games with his wife, experienced the thrill of winning the substantial prize while engaged in their joint scratching session.

Opting for a one-time payment, Stuart will receive $650,000 before taxes. The winning ticket was purchased at Girlies Variety, situated at 96 Oak St. in Taunton. In recognition of selling the winning ticket, the store is set to receive a bonus of $10,000.
