Woman steals lottery tickets from dozens of stores, then cashes in winners, KY cops say

A young woman, Telnesha Antnetta Brown, aged 18, has been apprehended by the Louisville Metro Police Department in Kentucky for her alleged involvement in a series of thefts involving lottery tickets.

According to authorities, Brown and a group of accomplices, including a juvenile, were part of a "crime syndicate" that carried out a spree of break-ins spanning four months.

They reportedly targeted 37 different businesses, forcibly entering them to steal lottery tickets and other items, which they promptly cashed in after each burglary. The group often utilized the Kentucky Lottery's mobile app to check the tickets for winning numbers before claiming their prizes.

The situation took a turn when lottery tickets were stolen from a business in Louisville, leading to Brown's arrest on August 24th. She and a 17-year-old suspect attempted to cash in their stolen tickets at a separate store, but were caught by the authorities. During the arrest, Brown reportedly attempted to flee by reversing her vehicle into police cruisers. Subsequently, she admitted to participating in multiple business break-ins and acting as the getaway driver for the group on various occasions.

Charged with an array of offenses, including complicity to burglary, criminal mischief, engaging in organized crime, and receiving stolen property, Brown appeared before Jefferson County District Judge Anne Delahanty.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, Judge Delahanty placed Brown on house arrest due to her age and limited criminal history. This decision, though seen as a chance given her young age, aims to ensure her compliance with legal proceedings.
