Massachusetts state lottery player wins $1 million recently in a lottery game

A woman from Massachusetts has come forward to claim a $1 million scratch ticket she purchased from the lottery’s $50 scratch ticket game, the Massachusetts State Lottery said.

Marta Soto Burgos, from Lawrence, claimed her prize on March 22, and was joined by her husband Aladino at lottery headquarters in Dorchester. Burgos was playing the “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” scratch ticket game.

Burgos chose the cash option on her prize, and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. She purchased her winning ticket at Stop Quick Market, located at 12 Haverhill St. in Methuen.

The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket. This $1 million prize is just the second $1 million claimed from the “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” game, which rolled out in the state on February 7.

Interim Lottery Director, Mark William Bracken, stated the $50 scratch ticket is a large part of the reason lottery sales were up by 20% in February.
