A fortunate Powerball lottery player from Ansonia scoops a big jackpot recently

An Ansonia resident won $1 million last week from a Powerball lottery ticket, according to Connecticut Lottery. According to the company's website, the Powerball ticket was sold at a Stop & Shop on Division Street in Ansonia.

The lottery prize was drawn Monday night and remained unclaimed until Thursday. The winner matched all five numbers 19, 29, 35, 36 and 45 during Monday night's drawing, but did not get the Powerball number, 16.

The game had a Power Play multiplier of 2. The million-dollar prize was one of the more than 4,500 winning Powerball tickets sold in Connecticut for Monday's drawing, yet no tickets secured the jackpot.

The jackpot prize has grown to an estimated $208 million with a cash value of nearly $98 million, after no tickets matched the jackpot on Wednesday and Saturday, according to Powerball.

The next Powerball drawing will take place Monday night. The chances of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 24.9 and the odds of capturing the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to Powerball.
