Grandma's gift brings beginner's luck to Maryland Lottery player

A lucky man from Maryland won a whopping sum of $50,000 playing Maryland Lottery's Holiday Ca$h instant ticket game with the ticket that his grandmother gifted.

The winning ticket was sold at the Dorsey Shell gas station in Hanover. The store will receive a bonus of $500 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

This was the first ever lottery game of the winner, who chose to remain anonymous. 

The winner said he plans to share his prize money with family members.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) is an independent agency of the Maryland government.

The Lottery offers 10 draw games, instant FAST PLAY games and instant scratch-off tickets. Daily drawings are shown on Baltimore television station WBAL-TV.
