Auckland Countdown staff 'stoked' to sell $23.5m Powerball ticket

A winning Powerball lottery ticket worth $23.5 was sold in Countdown Auckland City for last night's drawing.

The winning ticket was sold at a Countdown Auckland City store. The store will receive a bonus of $20,000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

The store manager Daniel Barker said it's not often someone wins this big.

"The team are absolutely stoked to have sold last night's winning ticket, it's one of the biggest Lotto wins we've had in recent memory."

Powerball is an American lottery game offered by 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evening at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.
