A fortunate Scratch off lottery player from Maryland scoops a big jackpot recently

A Montgomery County man urges everyone to scan their instant tickets after scratching them to check for hidden wins.

This habit led him to win $100,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket. The Silver Spring man thought his ticket was a non-winner, but he always scans his tickets to be sure.

This time, scanning revealed he missed seeing the $100,000 prize and was actually a winner. “I had goosebumps. I didn’t believe it,” he said, smiling.

After seeing the winning message, he rechecked his $50 ticket and found he matched the winning number 13. The matching number, buried at the bottom, had a $100,000 prize underneath.

He told Lottery officials he plans to use his prize to pay bills and might consider a home renovation.

He has been on a winning streak, having won $1,000 last week on another scratch-off. “It is just a blessing. I never dreamt I would win that type of money,” he said.
